How Etsy fees work

Every Etsy sale carries several separate charges. This calculator uses current US rates:

Pricing tip

Count your time as a cost. If the profit only looks good when your labor is free, raise the price or cut material costs. The target margin box shows the exact price that keeps your margin where you want it after fees.

Worked example

On a sale where you receive $32.95, Etsy fees come to $3.58 (10.9% of the sale). After $11.50 in product, shipping and packaging costs, you keep $17.87, a 54% margin. These are the calculator's starting numbers, so you can change any of them above.

Common questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?

On a typical US sale without Offsite Ads, Etsy takes about 9.5% of the sale plus $0.45: 6.5% transaction, 3% plus $0.25 processing, and the $0.20 listing fee.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the processing fee both apply to what the buyer pays for shipping.

Can I turn off Offsite Ads?

Shops under $10,000 in yearly sales can opt out. Above $10,000 the program is required, at a 12% rate.
